The problem with being able to justify almost any rabbit hole as "research" is that you sometimes find yourself doing things like spending way too much time watching live cams to see an ostrich.

In more ice cream news, after WWII when rationing was in place in the UK, they made "sundaes" out of scones with cream and jam on top.

Everyone knows that Cool Ranch Doritos are Cool American overseas, but I also find it amusing that bagged, sliced bread is frequently called "American Sandwich" or sometimes "American Toast"

Currently doing a bit of a deep dive on reptile reproduction which is WILD in general and also komodo dragons have reproduced via parthenogenesis.

Pizza Hut once did a stuffed crust version that used Vegemite instead of cheese. You gotta admire their desire to fit in various international markets, but I think I speak for the rest of the world when I say, "Ew."

For some reason I always thought Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" video was filmed in NYC. Nope, it was Long Beach. Also, it was filmed on the USS Missouri, where the Japanese surrendered in WWII.
