I'm just a girl, sitting in front of my computer, writing trivia for a living and finding out all kinds of random things. This is a collection of some of my favorites.

Looks like Eugene Levy is rocking his Order of Canada pin on the red carpet. Betcha Lorne has his on too, if he’s there. 🇨🇦

I can't get into too many details because it involves one of this week's questions, but ye gods can academics hold a grudge.

Broke out the Halloween playlist this morning which could only mean one thing - time to start planning this year’s Halloween quiz! (well, 2 things if you count Mr.AnywhereLeague requesting pie when things become autumnal)

The problem with being able to justify almost any rabbit hole as "research" is that you sometimes find yourself doing things like spending way too much time watching live cams to see an ostrich.

Was anyone else today years old when they learned that Igor wasn’t in the original Frankenstein novel? He was made up for the movies!

Why are there so many websites with suggestions for nicknames for your Subaru? And can we agree that “Leon Trotskar” is hard to beat? Honk if you like the proletariat!

In more ice cream news, after WWII when rationing was in place in the UK, they made "sundaes" out of scones with cream and jam on top.

I'll leave it to you to guess if I have the willpower to not stuff my face with ice cream while writing a round of questions about it.

I don't know why I didn't use this last week, but the coat of arms of the Bahamas features a flamingo.

Speaking of national birds, here's a comparison of a bald eagle's call to a red-tailed hawk. Yes, the eagle sound you thought you knew is a lie. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEmY...
Red-tailed Hawk and Bald Eagle Vocalization
For such a powerful bird, the Bald Eagle emits a surprisingly weak-sounding call, usually a series of high-pitched whistling or piping notes. This vocalization is so unimpressive that Hollywood sound editors often dub over a Bald Eagle's call, with a far more impressive sound; the piercing, earthy screams of a smaller bird, the Red-tailed Hawk. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Alaska Raptor Center, located in Sitka Alaska, provides medical treatment for over 200 injured bald eagles and other birds each year. Our goal is to release our patients back into the wild; some, however, are injured so severely they could not survive in the wild even after rehabilitation. These birds may join our Raptors-in-Residence, providing excitement and education for more than 80,000 annual visitors and for the 15,000 schoolchildren we reach through the Adopt-a-raptor program and classroom presentations around the country. Everyone knows that Cool Ranch Doritos are Cool American overseas, but I also find it amusing that bagged, sliced bread is frequently called "American Sandwich" or sometimes "American Toast"

Pizza Hut once did a stuffed crust version that used Vegemite instead of cheese. You gotta admire their desire to fit in various international markets, but I think I speak for the rest of the world when I say, "Ew."

For some reason I always thought Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" video was filmed in NYC. Nope, it was Long Beach. Also, it was filmed on the USS Missouri, where the Japanese surrendered in WWII.
