A collection of interesting facts with a personality precariously perched on top. They/them.
I sincerely hope you're correct about that. I doubt that the age inference mechanisms are going to be anywhere near reliable enough not to falsely identify a bunch of us as kids though.

I've lived with a couple of cats who sound very much like they're saying 'Now. NOW!!' when demanding food.

When I first met my baby niece, I found myself slow-blinking at her to show her I was friendly 😂

Some people just really, really hate the idea of human caring about animals.

I...I think there are people whose weird toxic hobby is going around commenting negative stuff on animal rescue related posts. I've seen so many of these comments - every rescue I follow seems to get them, along with weird, threatening comments about how specific animals should be put down or eaten

Weird how my brain stored the emotion alongside the song, without storing the reason/explanation for it. There's nothing sad at all about the song without the narrative of the video, but my brain goes directly from song to sadness, completely bypassing the sad content itself.

Predatory journals not only publish pretty much anyone who'll pay the fee, they actively solicit papers via mass email campaigns, etc. There's a lot of weaknesses in academic publishing of all kinds, but I think that equating paid-access journals with higher quality and greater rigour is a mistake
November 25, 2025 at 9:13 AM
I think it's important to distinguish between 'open access' and 'predatory journals'. There are plenty of reputable OA journals that actually care about making high quality research accessible to people outside the traditional paid-access publishing system (which also charges huge publication fees)
