Creature i did not expect to see while tide-pooling: Mr Marpissa bina, spooding around on a rock near the water. Missing a few legs but very perky 🖤

Little gently-wavy guy

Most of the gently-wavy guys were dark green, but then this one had an orange base and did not blend in with the surroundings 🧡

Hey if I'm on the trail and have earbuds in and you ignore that boundary to ask me repeatedly what I'm looking for with my face 5 inches from the ground, I'm going to ignore your protests of arachnophobia and show you little guys until you leave

Florida winter* is for finding the tiniest silliest Chalcid wasps, like this stubby little encyrtid under an oak twig

*and every other season tbh, but other seasons have more distractions

Pair of tiny nugget wasps in the sand from a short walk this evening 🖤

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH I finally found another Attidops nickersoni! 😍 Found the first 2 years ago, had been looking ever since with no luck. These silly tiny children like longleaf pine bark, or, in my 2 experiences, cypress bark. Just little flat stripy children 🤎

A horny lad (his booty is horn-shaped, the booty itself has a tiny horn at the tip (phrasing?), and his face has a horn, between his eyes)

Phoroncidia americana, the weird little lumpy theridiids who hunt with a single silk line composed of tiny sticky balls loaded with moth pheromones. I love them.

Small fuzzy orb weaver* with silly booty bumps: Ms Kaira alba, one of my favorites 🤍

*orb weaver who doesn't make any web at all really, she's one of those crafty buggers which use moth pheromones to attract snacks, just like bolas spiders, and the tiny lumpy Phoroncidia americana theridiids 🧪
