The event, which will be held on Zoom, will reflect upon what it means to remember, translate and carry the voices of contemporaries of the Satyashodhak movement into our present.

My friend Eslam has had her account removed by bluesky moderation. This is not the first time. I want to tell you what she said happened to her, but first, i’d like you to see Eslam’s campaign, since she is apparently not allowed here to share it herself.

Eslam shared with me that bluesky moderation made what i think is a very significant request from her. They asked her for a picture of herself, with her passport, and gave her a code to write on a piece of paper for confirmation it was her. She did those things. I saw the picture she sent them.

“By using tourism to legitimize the occupation of these scared sites of Adivasis, the state is convincingly erasing the region's indigenous histories and constructing new, local Hindu histories.”

And museums are playing big role in it.

I'm so sick of these baman-bania archaeologists, historians and cultural heritage practitioners hoarding and controlling every knowledge production platform and funding opportunities and and have the audacity to talk about decolonization, heritage preservation and social justice.
