Ugh. Oops. 244 wraps. Also, the reel makes skeins usually somewhere over 65” when the yarn is relaxed if memory serves but these are pretty springy woolen spun rolags so we’ll see what they’re like after a good drowning with soap. Either way, thicker than my usual spins even before the set.

Thank you! I’m quite happy with the progress.

Eeep! Happy to see you here! 🥰

Thank you! I'll heal eventually, I just need a boring life for a bit. All the renos went quite well and the house is ready for us to enjoy for years.

I mean... I thought it was sort of an implied enrolment when my GenX ass didn't manage to take itself out with teen-aged hijinks? It was a near thing a few times. Ok, several times. So... so many times...

Right!?! I remember thinking being an adult meant I could curl up on the couch with a book or a knit project and tea and be boring. This.... is not what I signed up for!

That spindle though! You can't just leave it naked...

Yeah, shenanigans I suspect that our politicians are watching and taking notes on too. Here's to it becoming boring times for all us soon because these interesting times are a little much at the moment.

It's grown a little over the past few days. Aiming for about 10 rolags a week between work, appointments and scrapping with large corps that are ruining my calm. 😂 I'm winning slowly though.

It is! It's my one wheel that if I had to get rid of them all but one, it's that one. I spent so much time finishing it and bonding with it, I may ask to be buried with it! 😀

It's glorious art!

We had surprise (rip the whole basement floor up) renos in our old place, a move and somewhat unplanned renos here and I did the damage in the first renos. My body's about to go on strike so I've decided to listen for a bit. We'll see if it lasts though.

I would have offered but I'm in Canada and shipping anything to you guys south of us is not necessarily going to be the easiest thing in the next little bit.

That’s at least solvable. You may find it’s less of an issue as you get more experienced. Do you know anyone with a 3D printer? Sometimes there are different guides available.

I really liked the look too. Cherry maybe? It was in a pile from a guy who makes custom stairs. The spindle flew off the lathe when I caught my skew while parting off. Hubby brings home pallet wood with interesting grain too. Lathe is still in storage since the move, hoping it doesn’t stay that way

Honestly, it’s a lot. Prep is so hard on the body. I think that’s why the two fleeces (prepped and ready) I have left to spin are in time out. I resented the pain they contributed to. There’s so much relief when it’s finished though & the yarn turns out how you envisioned. You’ve got this.

Dislodging involves the yarn and guide? The bobbin and flyer press fitting is concerning. That shouldn’t happen. Is there any free play between the flyer and bobbin when you’re spinning the alpaca? Wondering if one of your bobbins is a problem.

There are tools for poisoning AI images. Haven’t looked into anything for text. Would love to hear if you find anything. It’s demoralizing to see what AI has done to the internet. So many sites are copies of each other/searches polluted/misinformation. Is there a hashtag to support everyones’ blogs?

This is a commitment for sure! It looks like it’s going great though.

Spinning Romney/Merino at the moment as well but not half as dedicated. Bought in 2017, prepped in 2020, I want the closet space back this year. It’s the colour though. It’s not as lovely as what you have here.

I do think Maurice’s little wheels do best with thinner yarns and spinning the singles. I very briefly had the original mini and spun singles on it that I plied on another wheel.

I’m a little confused by #2. on a single drive wheel, the bobbin does spin with flyer because of yarn lock or you’re talking when you’re trying to wind on, it’s remaining locked?
