Huge turnout last night to celebrate Orkney poaching Jimmy Perez from Shetland. Sadly Ann Cleaves didn't do any keepy uppies on stage, so we just had to make do with her being witty, kind and insightful instead.

Why shouldn't vultures be allowed to have nice shoes? Good luck to them, I say!

Test audience for these wonderful colouring sheets our new PhD student Tayla has prepared for our event on Sunday 14th at UoA. Tayla is joining PALaEoScot to work on fragmentary bones from late glacial-early Holocene sites in Scotland using molecular approaches - she’s quite the artist too!

Picked the right day to head to Spurness. UHI Archaeology students playing a key role in demonstrating that what was once thought to be a Bronze Age double house is in fact Early Neolithic. Orcadian Chalcolithic settlement slips through our fingers once again...

The shipwreck uncovered in Sanday, #Orkney last year has been identified as HMS Hind, later the Earl of Chatham which was wrecked in the Bay of Lopness in 1788.

More than 230 years buried in the seabed, before being released by a storm in 2024.
