I suspect the reason she is transmedicalist is that external validation by diagnosis stabilizes identity by fixing its boundaries. "My identity feels unstable" becomes "Their identity is invalid".
The reason I am a Transmedicalist is because it won us our rights in the first place.
That system allowed me to legally change my sex. If you’re going with all this progressive self ID stuff that door will be closed and it will hurt actual transsexuals.

Hot take: minstrel shows were entertaining af. Music, jokes, familiar format. They weren’t the No. 1 form of American entertainment from like 1840 to 1920 JUST because the country was super racist.
Confession: we had a minstrel show sans blackface entertain my Knoxville elementary school in 1968.

I'm from the deep south and saw a lot of awful racist shit, and it would never occur to me to preface a recounting of it with "Confession:"
an interesting thing about being 40 and semi-anonymous on the Internet is that 25-year-olds will accuse you of being a child for not knowing about some YouTuber from five years ago, and it won't cross their mind that you are in fact too old and too offline to give a fuck.

Bill Gates gave a talk at Caltech recently, and I had a chat with some people involved. People might find it interesting/useful to know that if there's ever any disruption at a Gates talk, the talk immediately ends. Gates's people get him out asap. No circling back. No refunds. The event is over.

I was at the laundromat today, and an old woman was loudly telling her husband that she thinks Trump has Alzheimer's. I'm starting to hear this kind of stuff more openly in public lately.
It all might make more sense if he actually were drinking. But Trump, with his "alcoholic's personality," seems even less inhibited in a way that has many in Washington shaking their heads and wondering if the leader of the free world has lost it. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/u...

the trump response to rob reiner's death isn't even in the top 20 most profoundly fucked up things he's said. interesting that this one appears to be gaining attention, but i really doubt it's going anywhere.
