But there also needs to be adequate funding for the pre-claim conciliation process - that's not working either since #ACAS is also under-resourced and unable to cope with demand #HR #UKEmplaw 3/3

The Employment Tribunal system is in a complete mess, as this other story today shows (the employer taking what we now call the Michelle Mone strategy) #HR #UKEmplaw 2/3

I don't in principle have an issue with fees at this level - £55 - (personally I think employers should have to pay an equivalent fee to enter response) but there are lots of details that need to be sorted out before they're introduced - a short🧵 1/3

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

Personally I would have dropped the word 'tacit' from the penultimate paragraph.

I feel your pain- in the summer my glasses fell off my face as I was bending forward to move a case into a lift in a Greek hotel- they fell down the tiny gap between lift door and floor, all the way from the 4th floor to the basement. Amazingly they were retrieved and survived intact

“Even” Lynda? I can’t imagine she’d ever have been a Trump fan #TheArchers

A screengrab from a BBC News app short video of the March against Trump assembling at Langham Place, London. One bearded protester carriers an orange placard which reads: TRUMP, EVEN LYNDA SNELL IS DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!

With so many Tories joining Farage's crew, maybe we should start referring to them as Conform?

So, I’m not really up on American right wing politics (I’d never heard of Charlie Kirk till Wednesday) but would I be correct to assume that his murder is basically a 2020s politics version of the 2Pac/Notorious BIG feud?

If you haven’t read it, Boneland, the third part of the Weirdstone Trilogy, is brilliant
ariadneassoc.bsky.social
Listened to a lot of Garner as Audiobooks in the last few years. Weirdstone (sadly, as I loved it) seemed quite Tolkien derivative but Moon of Gomrath and Elidor still hold up well. As for The Owl Service, it’s a great novel (not just a YA novel)

To be fair, the Tories did close down mining in the UK, though it took them 25 years after Aberfan to completely achieve it 🙄

Thanks for responding. I agree that markets may be rational/efficient over time, but the idea that these guys are somehow 'masters of the universe' with some arcane knowledge denied to lesser mortals is ridiculous, and that the media/politicians need to panic over every short term move similarly.

Articles like this are why my view of "the markets" is that they are the world's biggest casino - and traders have no more knowledge than football pundits. The answer to the headline is "no-one really knows, but everyone has an opinion"
