🦠 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭-𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐱 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭! The diversity of root-associated fungi and bacteria was correlated with different phenotypic plant responses.

📊 𝐏𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝: we identified a region on chromosome 4 strongly associated with leaf phosphate variation in response to the treatment. Additionally, regions on chromosomes 2 and 5 were linked to shoot biomass variation in response to the treatment.

We then monitored the plants' responses to the treatment and discovered that:

🧬 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬! Plant genetic diversity significantly influences both the physiological and morphological responses to the inoculum.

In this study, we grew 131 genotypes of 𝐿𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑐𝑎 𝑠𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑎 under phosphorus starvation conditions and treated them with a microbial inoculum composed of two arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and two strains of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB).
