On Israeli Masterchef it's not uncommon for contestants to help make a part of each others dishes, but nobody cares about tasting the soup with your finger, which would get you tossed out of the American edition.

My wife speaks a bunch of languages and has watched Masterchef in Spanish, Portuguese, plus the US, UK and Israeli versions. Same basic format but totally different cultural expectations. Reality/gameshow TV in the Americas is produced to be cutthroat and bitchy.
