Congrats, Jeff! I can’t wait to try it out

Sabbatical question - which activities do you keep up and which do you pause?

Eg reviewing new papers and grants, non-mentorship related service committee meetings, normal schedule of lab meetings…

Yes I hope so! And thanks :)

Do you know of a third color that can be added to cyan and orange and for which the paired with overlaps are different? Thank you!
ariellevine.bsky.social
Agreed! But do any of these work for 3 color overlap analysis on a black background? For example, in RGB, we’d want to distinguish between R+G yellow vs R+B purple. But make it colorblind friendly
ariellevine.bsky.social
Does anyone have favorite colors for color blind friendly fluorescence images on a black background where the overlap combinations of 3 colors are important?

Magenta/cyan/yellow overlaps are difficult to distinguish (lots of white)

Thank you!

Was so nice to meet you!

Cool! Yes I saw the one walking task but wished for more ;) also, re posture, I meant to include it as a background context for other behaviors/tasks (a conducive/natural posture vs arbitrary/atypical)

Anyway, I’m really intrigued to see how this develops!

Also very curious about modeling of an overall “postural” component and more whole body/lower limb driven behaviors

Congrats! It’s a little far from my wheelhouse but this seems like a fantastic way to approach the “problem”.

Is there a way to build up a layered model that mimics vertebrate evolution to see if that improves finding more universal (vs task specific) representation?

Nice work, Remi and team!

How do neural dynamics in motor cortex interact with those in subcortical networks to flexibly control movement? I’m beyond thrilled to share our work on this problem, led by Eric Kirk @eric-kirk.bsky.social with help from Kangjia Cai!

Despite some ups and downs at NIH, we do have an open position for a postbac and are considering candidates.
Our work is at the intersection of neuroscience and AI, and we aim to understand how the brain's densely connected recurrent networks operate. 🧪

Our PhD student Louis Romette is optimizing long-term live-cell imaging. He just casually dropped this 65-hour movie of a growing neuron (div 3 to 6) with knocked-in actin 🔥🕶️ #realtimemicroscopy

Oh no. Now I’m going to have to explore this rabbit hole a bit tomorrow
