Anyone who’s talking about hyper realistic AI characters are either:

- Gaslighting themselves
- They are trying to sell something
- They were really bad at art

Of course all of the above can be true at the same time.

Maybe they are into it so much they can’t tell they are fake. We can tell.

That’s more about the network effect which I agree it’s what pushed me to put effort in building my network here. However I haven’t found ‘design twitter’ community here. (Maybe that’s a good in on the flip side. Not sure)

A lot of people share that sentiment and I dunno why. Is it something in the way the apps providing mastodon are lacking? Because the experience of the network is pretty similar.. (at least I think so)

My English language degrees from Greece (Cambridge certification) were worthless at the Uni here and I had to prove I knew the language with a separate test 🥲

I was thinking I might want to run a global State of Design research, as it relates to our current state of the world.

Not "which is the best tool for you as a designer" but more like "how do you feel" about job security, AI... Basically, stuff that is affecting you professionally (and personally)

I agree on that. Slurs are an ad hominem logical fallacy. It does unnecessarily humanize a tool.

You wouldn’t call Excel an idiot.

On "AI slurs" (clanker, etc) -- on one depressing level, I worry that slurs for machines humanize them b/c assigning slurs is what people do to people. But I understand the impulse, because we assign slurs to dehumanize. But if you tell me to "kick a clanker" and am gonna feel bad for it.

I have made a survey website (think of “state of ‘x’”) in @astro.build and my question is which would be the best database for such an endeavor?

I know there are places like Typeform but I want to make my life different in order to keep this research independent.
