Alarming low percentage of scientific literature found in the Climate change discussions in Social media. 💀 This is an excellent reminder that we need to integrate researched data in the discussion here and other platforms. 🧐

Hyvä yhteenveto Markukselta millä keinoilla talousmetsät saadaan monimuotoisemmiksi, kiitos myö[email protected]! Halpoja ja suhteellisen helppoja keinoja metsänhoitoon. Toivottavasti nämä saadaan metsänomistajien tietoon 💪
Voi että!!🔥💚
@luke.fi kollegoilta tuli maukas, tutkimusta kokoava synteesi aiheesta "Talousmetsien monimuotoisuuskehitys ja siihen vaikuttavat toimet". Parasta raportissa on kymmenen konkreettista suositusta (tarkemmat perusteet raportissa). Tämä 🧵 kokoaa nämä kymmenen teesiä. N-Y-T... 💨

A very exceptional warming event going on currently in the northernmost Lapland, in the heart of winter.

Utsjoki Kevo reached 6.5°C, a new February heat record for the station. The previous record was 6.3°C in Feb 1976.

Enontekiö Kilpisjärvi is also tying its February heat record with 6.4°C.

Great article on the effects of tree age and seasonality on trees CO2 sink capacity. 🌲🧐

Conclusion: Important to maintain the diverse age structure of northern forests as climate change continues to challenge their role in carbon sequestration.

Seasonal warming responses of the carbon dioxide sink from northern forests are sensitive to stand age - Communications Earth & Environment
Carbon dioxide uptake in old northern forests increases more in warmer springs and decreases less during warm summers and autumns compared with younger forests, according to an analysis of forest carb...

🌦️ More humidity = Bigger trees?🌳Seems to be the opposite with silver birch (Betula pendula) trees in northern Europe. As climate predictions indicate more frequent and intense rainfall, understanding these effects is crucial. #climatechange #forestresearch
Foliage development and resource allocation determine the growth responses of silver birch (Betula pendula) to elevated environmental humidity
Abstract. Scenarios for future climate predict an increase in precipitation amounts and frequency of rain events, resulting in higher air humidity and soil

"Great" 🥲 way to start the new account about the effects of climate change on forests and forest trees. Hopefully we'll all learn more while trying to keep this 1.5 °C as an exception. 💪

Earth breaches 1.5 °C climate limit for the first time: what does it mean?
The threshold has been exceeded for only one year so far, but humanity is nearing the end of what many thought was a ‘safe zone’ as climate change worsens.
