ARIA Notify looks like it could solve a lot of problems with screen reader announcements by simplifying the process.

We're excited to announce the availability, as a developer and origin trial, of ARIA Notify, a new API that's designed to make web content

more evidence that "learning how to ask AI models the right questions" is just an oblique way to say "developing expertise"
Here’s a question I get a lot:

> “Now that AI can generate front-end UIs for us, what’s the point of learning CSS ourselves?”

I think there are lots of reasons, including that you can use AI much more effectively if you understand CSS yourself.

But is that actually true? Let’s discuss. 🧵

I’m a web designer-developer who has mostly designed and built marketing websites for small to medium-sized businesses. I started designing because my clients didn’t have a designer and expected me to handle everything. But I’ve always felt like an imposter. It’s not a nice feeling.

A million people showed up to say your money can't stop a movement whose time has come.
Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

Hi @jensimmons.bsky.social, the theme-color meta tag has stopped working in Safari. I'm on version 26.0.1.

Here's an example of the issue on my own website (arpit.codes) running on iOS 18.2 and 26.0.1

I didn't find an issue on bugs.webkit.org. Should I file one?

More than *anything* the people who actually know how technology works, who actually build things, wish that people would treat LLMs like every other technology, and be normal about them. Don't build a religion about them, don't force them on people, don't ignore the problems. Just be normal.

There's a new #CSS Working Group poll to get feedback on different names for the infamous 'Pinterest' layout.

- Since it uses many of the grid-* properties, `grid` will be in the name somewhere
- We don't use metaphors in CSS names, so `masonry` is not listed here

Ex-Masonry Display Type Keyword Poll
See https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12022 for context. This poll intentionally leaves out `masonry` as an option, see https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12022#issuecomment-34172962...
