Just read A Murder of Mages by @mrmaresca.com and it has cured my reading slump! An adventure that has just enough weight to it, a fascinating world, and complex characters. I'm now waiting impatiently for the library to send me ALL THE OTHER BOOKS.

🚨🚨 My dear friend and fellow academic, the Palestinian American sociologist @emanabdelhadi.bsky.social has been taken by the Cook County Sheriff near Chicago. They have not mirandized her. Please signal boost. All eyes on Broadview for Eman and the community she was defending 🚨🚨

People who appreciate the intoxicating euphoria of reading from a real dictionary expertly hand-crafted by diligent human lexicographers.

Also. people who love the Oxford Comma more than some family members.

Who's the audience for a paper dictionary these days? (Serious question.)

I just got a call from the bookstore telling me to come get it, but the auto-transcription says that my copy of "what sucks the deep" has arrived, so I'm a liiiiitle concerned...

So, really, we just need to find a tree for Bugge to live in and your net value will go up!
arrkonthelibrarian.bsky.social
Actually, the net value is for a Bugge that lives in the tree

I have to go to a doctor's appointment and say "hey, my mom has all these new diagnoses, could this be what's wrong with me?" and then get told that I'm a healthy 30-something cause I can still bend over, even if it does usually hurt...

@premeemohamed.com Is this how you stay so youthful?!?!?!
americanbeetles.bsky.social
there is already a way to extend life and youth indefinitely
1. Be a stored-grain dermestid beetle larva (say, Trogoderma)
2. Every time food gets scarce, moult backwards into a previous instar
3. Proceed to grow as usual
4. Repeat step 2

Friends, I am as excited as heck to tell y'all about the NEWBERRY MEDIEVAL MINICOMIC PRIZE!

It's for emerging cartoonists (i.e. no major publisher work, excepting anthologies) considering making a short work that engages with a medieval subject (fic or nonfic). 1/

also, I was the first person to spill cranberry juice in the BRAND NEW Catholic church as a 12 year-old. I still point out the stain when I have to go there for weddings or what not
arrkonthelibrarian.bsky.social
No! This is an HONOUR! Think of all the tours where docents will say "and this is where award winning author, scientist, and Bugge, Premee Mohamed wrote her internationally acclaimed opus. She left her mark via fountain pen!" *cue clicking of tourists cameras*

College. It kept me out of a spelling bee in school TWICE.

Hello, yes, was your Dinner of Madness the kind that makes you see funny colours or the kind that makes you writhe on the floor as an eldritch being gives you visions too arcane for your tiny human brain to comprehend?
arrkonthelibrarian.bsky.social
At what point do I count as an old weirdo? The college kids have decided i'm an 'elder' but I'm not 40 yet so I think I'm still in the burned out disappointment stage...

Very anecdotal, but I'm a long term user of Zyrtec (cetirizine) and Flonase, I just got COVID, this time I continued use of 10mg daily cetirizine and Flonase and it was the quickest recovery I've had (this is my 3rd time with COVID)

Finished The Ravening Deep by @timpratt.org last night and it was exactly what I needed for my reading slump! Strong characters, rollercoaster adventure, save the world, and morally grey characters. Very very enjoyable!

I don't understand why we only get superman and spiderman movies when there are like 100 muppets and every single one of them has leading man/woman potential

I think there was an episode about this, sort of. Ash was learning which pokemon are actually aliens...

the only answer, unfortunately, is The Hose.

Back up is the sink and The Wand-Thingy.
