I love when people say this, either genuinely (helpfully) or trying to troll, because I can just smile and say, "I have. And I've also set up an escape hatch for others to as well."

We don't have to accept AI. We just don't. It's not inevitable.

If you feel that strongly about AI, then switch to Non-AI linux running on an non AI CPU chip. No exceptions. If you hate Gen AI, then go extreme and attack it! don't just block people, make a difference and set an example!

I've seen some vocally anti-AI people recently make an anti-AI post and be surprised there are still pro-AI people following them, and I can explain this;

most pro-AI people think they are somehow the exception. the way THEY are using it, SURELY you would take no issue!

Not just this, but UVA has "guaranteed admission agreements" with local community colleges. I was admitted under one after two years at Tidewater Community College.

Under the compact, those CAN'T exist anymore. Which screws non-rich people even HARDER than it looks like.

The VA Senate had better follow through with it if UVA capitulates.

I will be even more disappointed with, ashamed of, and furious at my alma mater if they decide to fall in line with Trump.

Virginia State Senate Dems just brought down fire and fury regarding the “Compact,” notifying the President and Rector that UVA would lose ALL STATE APPROPRIATIONS if it signs and cedes the University to “federal political control.” Notably, their letter directly restates points made here by @siva.

The “compact” for higher ed is an unserious document written by unserious people from a position of spectacular ignorance. No one should take it seriously. Sadly, my bosses are taking it seriously.
