Prompt for today’s Spacetober Challenge is Blackhole. This is my digital draft of a blackhole. I’ll be painting it in acrylic on stretched canvas after Christmas. From my Circles Portfolio. #Spacetober_Challenge #sciart

Ooooo…look, there’s my artwork on the front page. It’s an excellent arts and culture e-magazine for the members of the British Interplanetary Society. Membership is free for everyone aged 25 or under.

The latest issue of the arts and culture magazine “Odyssey” is out now! A massive thank you to both Lewis Dartnell and Sheila Kanani for their respective contributions, and to Jackie Burns for allowing us to feature more of her remarkable artwork for the cover. @artistburns.bsky.social

Rocket Lab launched a Synspective radar-imaging satellite today, from Mahia Peninsula, New Zealand. Exhaust gasses expands rapidly though the thinning atmosphere, looking lovely with the early morning light shining through it. The dot in the middle is actually the rocket during first stage burn.

performing in-space operations, and returning to Earth. The entire system included the orbiter (the main spacecraft), solid rocket boosters, and a large external fuel tank. My artwork is acrylic on stretched canvas. 🧵 2/2

Today’s prompt for Spacetober Challenge is Spacecraft. The NASA Space Shuttle was a spacecraft that launched like a rocket and landed like an airplane. It was the first reusable spacecraft capable of carrying large satellites and crew to orbit…🧵 1/2

The International Space Station. We have five years left before it’s decommissioned, enjoy the orbital fly overs while you can. Acrylic on stretched canvas. From my Circles Portfolio. #ISS #Aerospace #Sciart

Finished my sock WIP. I’ll start the second sock this evening. I’m loving the colours: Mulled Wine and Liquorice by West Yorkshire Spinners.

About 8 hours, with rest breaks. I usually make a pair of socks a week, in between art, housework, paperwork, etc. Usually knitting is an evening occupation when I’m also streaming something on my iPad.

I’m wearing my rainbow socks today. I knitted them myself. I’m an artist, so I love all the colours. I’m an ally too, so I love all the colours.

I took this photo in June 2021. The sky was filled with fast moving lacy clouds that meant I could occasionally view the partial eclipse seemingly nestled on a rainbow coloured bed of clouds. #Spacetober_challenge

This came up on my Memories feed - creating a digital mascot for Levitation, a UK EasterCon a couple of years ago.

Further along on my WIP. Finished the heel flap and turned the heel, now decreasing the gusset. #SockKnitting

Season 4 of Slow Horses is a little high octane for someone that doesn’t like violence or gore like myself. The finale was both enjoyable and stressful. Season 5 looks even more stressful, so I think I’ll give myself a break for a week before I dive in again. #SlowHorses

Finally caught the mouse today. Used a humane trap. Clever little thing, it avoided tripping the trap mechanism whilst robbing the bait for a week. My cat watched in distain as I left the house to release the mouse at a recreational ground a couple of blocks away. I’ll reset the trap, just in case.

Sad to hear about the passing of John Lodge, one of the vocalists in the Moody Blues.

Mars Perseverance rover took this image of the comet 31/Atlas on October 4, 2025. We got an image of a comet from the surface of another planet - how awesome is that? #CometAtlas #astronomy

so I’ll bake one this evening and then fillet it over two plates, eating the second fillet tomorrow. I got monkfish and salmon fillets as well and there’s just enough room in the freezer for everything. 🧵3/3

I did some research and thought I’d save up and do an on-line purchase. Well, the rainbow trout are enormous (I ordered the smallest sizes so goodness knows what the largest ones look like)…🧵2/3

I did a bulk order of fresh fish and it was delivered today. I do enjoy fish-on-the-bone but it’s been getting harder to find. Some supermarkets have done away with their wet fish counters and have replaced them with filleted fish in smaller portions with inflated prices. 🧵1/3

@spacetober_challenge. Today’s prompt is Nebula. I recreated the Dumbbell Nebula using Adobe Fresco. Not the easiest one I could have picked, but at least I’ve made myself an excellent star field that can be reused as an asset in future digital images. #Spacetober #space #nebula #digitalart #sciart
