Here's my thoughts on Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev.
I ended up truncating a lot of my first draft, as I'd gotten a bit too personal and a tad too introspective. If nothing else, it shows the film had a significant effect on me, despite me saying it's interesting, but not necessarily entertaining.
A review of Andrei Rublev (1966)
Andrei Rublev is a complicated film, which makes it hard to recommend to just anyone. It’d be safer on my part to assume that you specifically, as of right now, don’t have the patience, nor the desire...

it’s a time of year where people often feel isolated, alone & the shadows of the world seem closer. I’ve lost friends during this time of year, people who I know would have found the light again. just a reminder to reach out to friends, family or support organizations. just take that first step.

There's this tangible dissonance happening in my home right now, as the TV downstairs is playing the mandatory Christmas feature of Home Alone. Meanwhile, I'm upstairs in a pitch black room, watching Tarkovski's Andrei Rublev.

Christmas contains multitudes, I suppose, but it was a funny through.

Very mild chance you ever need this, but on Windows 11 version 24H2, they no longer provide the codecs required to decode Dolby 5.1 surround sound, also knows as EAC 5.1

One solution is this sketchy lookin' set of MS Store Apps:

Just watched S03E20 of the #XFiles and it is a little episode called "Jose Chung's From Outer Space". It constantly amazes me how this show can ride the line between comedy, serious drama, horror, and kind of sitcom-ey antics. What an amazing show. I want to rip it off in everything I do.

Just redid some of the art on FON to make it a tad more consistent. I scarcely think anyone was paying enough attention to notice, but it helps me sleep at night knowing that all the colours and resolutions fit together.

Been playing some Bloodborne today.
Obviously, I have some thoughts pop into my head every once in a while, so I'll keep tabs on them as a thread, so that you can disagree with me publicly and suggest I be lynched.

New chapter of FON is getting released in about 15 minutes. Thank you for your patience.

"It’s a meticulously *designed* film, directed by a man, who lives and breathes the medium of gothic fairy tales, to the point of reaching a kind of cinematic maximalism – a “more is more” sort of attitude [...] deeply artistic, and by virtue - niche."

It's fun seeing a really young Ryan Reynolds in The X-Files. The particular episode is S03E13. I'm still in the middle of watching this as I type this, so it remains to be seen whether or not he's cool in it or not.

The SSD that was my boot drive abruptly shat the bed and died on me. Switching to Linux is happening sooner than expected. New SSD has been ordered. Using a temp Win11 install so I can play Diablo 2 and make my install media without hooking a keyboard up to my Steam Deck.

Broadcasting on the internet for a decade and writing fiction have both resulted in what I would call statistical failure. It's not so much a tree falling down in the forest where no one can hear it, as much as it's a self-made lumber-yard, engaging in mass deforestation and no one hears it.

The only good thing about GTA V was that it introduced literally everyone under the sun to Radio Soulwax and the Dewaele brothers. That and it game me the hipster street cred of a lifetime by allowing me to pull from their 1H mixes or 2manydjs.

I have a deep-cut take that the best way to listen to Aphex Twin's Windowlicker is as part of Season 3 of Top Gear. Whoever was doing the editing for those episodes was performing some magic that makes even Birmingham seem appealing.
