Call me a GameSpot fanboy (I am) but I like what my old home did. Reviewed the single player and multiplayer, gave the entire package a score but labelled it "In Progreess" until they've had a chance to review multiplayer in the wild.

I risk isolating IGN in my criticism here so let me also say I'm very glad that IGN (and a handful of others) decided to hold off on reviewing the Multiplayer until gen pop is involved. reviewing a game based on the more controlled pre-release player pool ain't right.

I get what you mean, but with no disrespect to the folk just hustling to make a good review on a tight deadline, I personally think the weirder thing to do is put a final score on the whole game based on just one week of publisher-scheduled pre-release multiplayer sessions and a short campaign.

Yea I agree. I think that's poor form and I'm glad you and a handful of others decided to hold back on reviewing multiplayer until it's done.

My preference would be either not scoring the campaign portion separately, or doing what GameSpot did and just saying "In Progress" for now. But whatevs!

There are plenty of reasons why an online editorial outlet would make the decision to split up the reviews that make a lot more sense than "this is what the audience wants".

So maybe it's best to just agree to disagree on this one!

Hey look, you can divvy it up all you want. But saying that players are only interested in half of a product they're spending $70 on is ridiculous. That's the game being sold. You can split any number of games into neat little review boxes. Most don't.

they clearly wanted to have an embargo day review for traffic while still doing due diligence on the multiplayer review. not sure this is a great solution to that problem.

the series is still going but we hadn't filmed in a while because (a) so much was happening and (b) our schedule was insane this past year. but I think we should still finish it.
