As for horror that made me go “NOPE” but I was still 100% there for: T.Kingfisher. Her Alex Easton trilogy, The Twisted Ones, The Hollow Places, hell even most of her other stuff that’s not strictly horror but still has things like… serial severed heads and that FUCKING HORSE, etc, *chef kiss*

World War Z is the only book I was determined to finish despite being UTTERLY horrified, then IMMEDIATELY gave it to a friend who would appreciate it more.

Kingdoms of Needle and Bone was the first Mira Grant book to really shake me, but pandemic so maybe too on the nose.
