A Cuban does make it more likely to be accurate. They can occupy that middle world between eligible-for-amnesty and would-have-been-deported-if-ineligible-for-amnesty.

I'm surprised to see anything that old considering the intervening amnesties. Anyone who didn't qualify for those almost certainly would have been a deportation priority before now.

Do you remember the end of the movie Dave when he gives a televised speech just so he can collapse on camera? Of course there it was so the real President could be revealed to have been in a coma the whole time, but it works just the same if you're really the President and want out.

It now occurs to me we've never had a Democratic President with a two-syllable middle name except Obama (plus Cleveland and Wilson who used theirs as if first names). Meanwhile Republicans have them consistently (but not universally). This is clearly coincidental, but still unexpected.

My count is that this administration has now issued 61 precedent decisions, half of which in about the last three months.

The BIA under the previous administration issued 72 in four years.
