I did a ton of grown up job working today, mostly finishing up various projects that have needed the last couple things, but also knocking down one big thing I had been procrastinating and stressing about. I should get all the adult worker points.

Not a scam. Called the company independently. While they can't give me any info about the account b/c I'm not the account holder & can't verify info, they /can/ tell me it is a legit notice, that amount is owed, & they haven't been paid in several months.

Property people are working on it, I guess?

It /may/ be a scam? I /hope/ it's a scam? But if it is, it is one well-done and thorough scam, because the letter is exceedingly official-seeming and for a real company, including real company info, addresses, and phone numbers.

Guess whose landlord stopped paying the water bill (which said landlord is responsible for) at least 3 months ago?

Guess who got a final shutoff notice in the mail today?

Guess who has to call tomorrow & sort it out & ask if they ALSO stopped paying sewer & trash.

I am so tired.

Not yet.

The notice was "pay in full by X date or water gets shut off." I defaulted to it being a scam, but I've seen these kinds of letters thru work, & it's a legitimate format at the very least.

(To be clear, it is in our lease that they handle those bills. The cost is included in our rent. We don’t have access to the accounts even if we wanted to pay them ourself. Ahhhhh.)

I'm mad at myself for whining about this on social media, but I'm finding that I'm getting so up in my head about everything right now if I don't externalize it /somewhere/ I might explode.

The past 6 months have been a lot over here, & I'm low on resilience.

I'm not burnt out on writing and creating things. But I'm starting to get close to it on attempting to do that creation with anyone else because right now, it feels like I put out a ton of work and energy with very, very little return on it, & that makes me tired.

I want to listen to & read your stuff! But it kind of sucks when people get annoyed at me for taking a while, or just not having energy to do it. & it sucks worse to have to have my own requests for feedback turned down, or just entirely ignored.

I've been feeling really... creatively & collaboratively under-appreciated, lately? I love getting to work with other people. I love getting to be excited about their work, & yelling about it.

But it's so seldom that is reciprocated, & frequently feels expected or required & that feels not great.

It also looks bad if they give the awards to enormous corporate pods every time. Because the public consumption of the medium doesn’t look like that. People would ask where the indies were. But podcasting is a weird business where micro-budget creators do well, without making money.

Really, I think one of the reasons that all I am able to work on right now is cyberpunk noir is that contemporary horror is too close to the current reality horror which I can do absolutely nothing about.
