yea, my quibble is less with the mechanical justification and more aesthetic framing; yakumo is still distinct because he's essentially just the protagonist in all respects but i think that's a very large part of the backlash

if you ignore pre-existing levers in order to have a punky protagonist with butt rock music while also passing the narrative baton over to them and presenting it as a lineal family drama i think there's more going on than just creating a new set of functions

i think it's fine to have multiple protags (and NG is no stranger to this in specific) but i do think that the platinum inclusions feel very pointedly like them trying to do a Nero (esp when bayonetta is reliant on weapons that change between games)

given watch dogs as a series and far cry 5, i think they would legit find a way to make a game set during reconstruction completely lacking any bite. never bet on ubisoft making a statement of any kind
