Up until this tier, I've been drk (and a brief foray into gnb) for the static - both jobs that Fafnir knows. But I swapped to rdm this tier, which Fafnir does not pick up in canon.

Tbh, I usually just go whatever I feel up to when doing roulettes though.

Fafnir never expected to pick up botany, but they find it rather comforting.
Fafnir pushed the wheelbarrow with simple determination and sweat. It was burdened with compost and practically steaming in the afternoon's heat, but they ignored the stench in favor of watching their step. The field was freshly tilled and new sprouts planted. They'd grow into squash soon enough, each stage of their progress watched by members of the Botanists' Guild. With any luck, Fafnir would be there to see it. They crested the steep hill with a final grunt. Fufucha was waiting, a few sacks at her feet and a clipboard in hand."Oh! Thank you, Fafnir. Could you please put that over there?" she asked, gesturing to the side of the Botanists' Guild hut. Fafnir nodded. It was no hastle to get the wheelbarrow to its destination. They returned to Fufucha as they wiped their hands on their trousers. "Done," they grunted. "Fantastic." Fufucha smiled up at them. "I was hoping that you could help finish seeding the third field. How does that sound?" Fafnir tilted their head. They were still new to the Guild and the majority of their tasks involved carrying, pushing, or pulling objects from one place to another. They were just content to feel like their strength was being used for something different — creating rather than destroying. "'tis simple enough. Take this bag and scatter the seeds 'cross the field. Then be sure to water and fertilize the ground." Fufucha handed Fafnir one of the sacks. "You don't need to plants all of them, just most of them." The bag had a label, but the text was too small for Fafnir to read without squinting. They nodded. "Do you have any questions?" Fufucha asked. Fafnir shook their head. Fufucha's smile was almost as warm as the afternoon sun. "Alright. Just come back when you're done, then." The field was freshly tilled, just like the others, but lacked the sprouts. Fafnir felt a weight on their shoulders as they dug into the bag. The seeds were so small. It was hard to imagine that they would turn into something large enough to eat. They were careful as they completed their task. If they weren't, the seeds could be crushed in their grasp or trod on by a foot or smushed by their tail. Then they wouldn't grow into anything. Fafnir didn't like the idea of that. They hoped these could become something more than they were now. (Maybe they could be something more than they were.)

Definitely All The King's Men, back from my 3H days. It's the only fic I have over 100k and I took a long break in the middle because my irl was so busy. I'm still pretty proud of it and have fond memories of most everyone who supported me during its creation

Fafnir and Hien find planning a wedding is not easy when you're the Emperor of Doma and the Warrior of Light.

"And of course, we will have a band performing music from across Eorzea — though fear not, Emperor, the musical talents of Doma will be primarily on display. We shall not squander the chance to show the rest of the star that we are strong and must be taken seriously," an advisors said. Hien nodded sagely. Fafnir mirrored the movement, a chocobo feather behind in tempo. "That sounds quite wise. What plans have been made for when the musicians are resting?" Hien asked. "Resting?" Hien looked at Fafnir, who blinked back at him. They looked vaguely dazed. Hien was on his own for this. "Aye. You cannot believe that they can perform for the entire ceremony and reception," he remarked. "'twould be at least six hours of play, if not more!" "Emperor Hien, Lord Consort—" A voice from across the hall shouted. The owner of the words quickly manifested in front of Fafnir and Hien. He was one of the many assistants for the wedding. "Have you had a chance to review the options for fabrics?" Again, Hien glanced at Fafnir. Their expression had not changed. "Er, not yet. We were discussing the musical accompaniment—" "Once that is complete, you must decide what tableclothes you wish to use. If I may, the translucent red silk atop thicker white cotton would be esquisite." Hien felt his smile grow more and more forced. "We shall keep your opinion in mind." Before he could return focus to the prior conversation, yet another person appeared, then another, and another, until Hien and Fafnir were swarmed by no fewer than a dozen chattering voices all eliciting their opinion on matters that Hien didn't even realize one could have an opinion on. Hien jumped when he felt something touch the small of his back. He realized a moment later that it was Fafnir's tail, the long appendage seeking to ground him. (Continued in next image) (Continued from last image) But no — Fafnir was stone-faced, but their eyes had a distance that Hien had come to associate with distress. They were breathing shallowly. Their hands kept searching for the weight of a blade. Fafnir Chulainn, Warrior of Light, was unwell. - "Pray, let me consult with my spouse," Hien said loudly and firmly. He held one hand up to emphasize his request. The other found its place on Fafnir's bicep. Then steadily, if with an air of regal authority, Hien steered Fafnir out of the large banquet hall and into a nearby office. It was occupied, but Hien had just to look at the secretary and suddenly she realized it was time for a tea break. Then, finally, they were alone. Hien let out the longest sigh of his life. "Kami, if I ever suggest having a wedding again, cart me off to the Steppe so Cirina can see if I've had another near death experience," he mumbled. He took bothof Fafnir's hands in his and squeezed them gently. "Are you alright?" Fafnir blinked slowly. Their eyes came back into focus, that brilliant red meeting Hien's gaze. "Better." "Good." Hien leaned up to kiss Fafnir's jaw. The scales shone in the sunlight that poured in through the window. The window. "These open, you know," Hien said, looking at the hinge that kept the glass closed. Fafnir raised an eyebrow at him. "Even you could fit, if you're careful with your tail." Fafnir chuffed. "Should the Emperor of Doma not sneak around his own home?" "The Emperor of Doma may do as he wishes," Hien retorted. "Now, hurry. Before someone finds us and asks about the cutlery."

Kiah'a and G'raha share a meal.
Kiah'a was usually the one who struggled to remember to eat. He got too engrossed in his studies, the hours whittled away until the sun was long since set and his head throbbed from dehydration. Sometimes, however, he got to be the responsible one. "Take a bite," he told G'raha, who blinked rapidly at him — or rather, at the spoonfull of broth that was shoved in his face. "Eat," Kiah'a repeated, and G'raha dutifully obeyed without a second thought. After swallowing, G'raha grimaced. "What hour is it?" "Late." Kiah'a waved his hand and a thin disc of aether glided over to the desk. On it, a bowl was carefully placed. It took a great deal of delicacy to deposit the bowl on the desk without spilling anything, but Kiah'a was the Warrior of Light and the most skilled mage on the star for a reason. "It's left over from yesterday's meal." "My stomach has no issue with it," G'raha assured him. "When did you return?" Kiah'a shrugged. "Only a scant few moments ago." He turned to go shower off the stench of the day, but stopped when G'raha reached out to tug on his sleeve. G'raha's expression was open, his eyebrows tilted up and a hesitant smile dancing on his lips. "Do you want any?" "I should wash," Kiah'a said. "It can wait." He had been at the Studium all day. "Alright." Kiah'a pulled a chair over and sat. Though it was rather inefficient with only one spoon, he happily shared the meal with G'raha.
