Smart, well-educated women of color choosing racist white men as their partners is unfortunately common. Being "successful" often requires prioritizing the comfort of white folks around us. Some of us do it so long and efficiently, we forgot there are people capable of respecting us in the world.

Yeah I think a lot of people forget that foreign governments are about as self-interested as ours is. Individuals rally for causes. Governments protect the state's interests and sometimes that of their people. If the state can be pursued to believe it will also be benefited.

Oh no, I agree entirely. I lost my mind when I someone told me that was the plan. Believing that requires a level of faith in foreign governments that I do not have. Theres a reason the US has been allowed to police the world this long. A full authoritarian takeover won't change that.

I guess there's been an accelerationist argument making the rounds. Some people seem to think if Trump wins, the rest of the world will rally around Palestine to stop the worse carnage. At least, this is the argument I've been hearing.

Were preparing for our first transfer and up until a week ago, I was certain it would be our only shot because the gop wants ivf outlawed. Especially fun since the doc thinks stress will be our biggest barrier to success. Love to hear I am as worthless as I feel if it fails!

They've spent the last decade insisting that shame is fine and necessary. The idea that you shouldn't shame them for the weird shit they believe will therefore fall pretty flat, even on people they may have been able to otherwise pursuade.

His excuse doesn't even make sense. If I were a wannabe dictator who said you wouldn't have to vote next election, my excuse would be that you wouldn't have to vote for ME next election because I would have completed 2 terms. The fact he won't even pretend he'll leave office is interesting.

I've been looking for a new job for a couple of months and my husband sheepishly told me a few days ago that he finds my interview outfit super sexy. He is a perfect man.

If i had to guess after nearly a decade of listening to this idiot make threats both veiled and direct, I'd guess the apologetics will be that he meant they won't have to vote for HIM in 4 years because he'll be done with his 2 terms. That's clearly not true but cults are like that.

I suspect (or at least am hoping) there's an actionable short term plan and a call to amend the constitution will be a more longterm plan to ensure we don't end up here again.

This is a man who can't recite a single Bible verse and when asked to specify his religious beliefs calls himself "protestant". No practicing American protestant has ever referred to themselves that way.

Hundred percent. ivf affects their base in a way thats much clearer than abortion does. There's also no rewriting definitions like they do with abortion. A "pro-life" ivf stance means banning it or making it significantly less effective.

They've also recently become very anti-fertility care as well so it's especially weird. "IVF IS MURDER. Just adopt. It doesn't count though." Okay.

It's an especially interesting take from the people who insist everyone needs to have kids but also recently banned ivf. Throw in the fact they won't do anything to get microplastics out of food and the actual goal of controlling who gets to be a parent becomes pretty clear.
