how about manually hiding some of the noisy connections and only showing them when the cursor is hovering over them or one of their connected nodes? something like this:

It's probably akin to VM inside of VM inside of VM... but the fact that stacking VMs doesn't bother us anymore is even more unsettling to me. We are not solving problems anymore. We are just building fractals where each layer just repeats the previous one.
