Until that utopian civilisation comes into existence, any technology that hits the fossil gas industry's market share is going to be attacked by the gas industry.

The fossil gas industry is happy to undermine substitutes that erode its market.
These:
1. Electric induction heating for high-temperature industrial processes.
2. Biomethane from sewage, animal and crop waste.
3. Gasification of waste streams (plastic, etc).

And for mean temperatures, last month was a near-equal second hottest October. Last month’s anomaly was 2.51C above the 1961-90, and the previous October in 2024 had a 2.52C anomaly. Both lagged 2015’s October anomaly of just over 3C:
