Sure, I think what I'm getting at is the kaguya movie is way more of a standard popular-shonen-adaptation pipeline that is pretty normal, where you're not really watching the film for its director. Kore-eda is a prestige director, incredibly highly acclaimed, so it's a really different situation.

I will concede that I have not watched it so you may be 100% right! Think it's fair to say that a Kore-eda adaptation of a manga would naturally stand out from your average one is what I'm getting at

if you're gonna be like that at least do it about stuff like the dogshit live action kaguya-sama adaptation or something. live action mangaslop has been a thing for ages, it's not some new, dire development. and again: kore-eda!!!!
