They fail to see how our collective trauma shifted the language we spoke from the Romanian they speak to a language with both Romanian and Russian roots and with Ukraine bordering us on one side, Ukrainian influenced dialects near that border as well.

Before the USSR we were part of Romania and while we did speak Romanian before the USSR, the trauma endured under the USSR changed the language we spoke and so when Moldova became independent Moldovan became the official language. A lot of Romanians have a problem with that apparently.

I’m Moldovan and my parents grew up when Moldova was still part of the USSR. They were forced to learn and speak only Russian. We weren’t allowed to speak our own language.

& we often get it wrong, even when we think we got it right, allistic people have a way of blindsiding us. Even when it’s glaringly obvious to others. I’ve come to a point where I can no longer continue to try to make friends. I always end up thinking I can trust ppl only to be harshly disappointed.

Like imagine you have a bad flu and you’re sitting on the couch absolutely miserable. Would you be feeling relaxed or would you be in agony, fatigued and heavily medicating the symptoms just to cope? Being chronically ill and disabled is not a fun little privilege. It’s not fun. It’s traumatic.

Y’all are not just under diagnosing girls. You’re under diagnosing people of color, especially girls and women of color. And that’s gross medical negligence. Which is unsurprising considering what the medical system does to ppl of color especially pregnant women of color.

Whereas I was able to get one only after 28 years despite very obviously struggling all my life and being largely nonverbal. She experienced a lot of the same struggles as well but I was lucky being in the right place at the right time to have someone take me seriously.

I have a friend whose son was diagnosed quickly but when she tried to get a diagnosis they refused her because she’s a woman of color despite this being a genetic condition and he had to have gotten in from somewhere and she was struggling.

No fucking shit.

Despite my oldest daughter showing very classic signs of Autism at 2 years old, we were told to wait a few years and that socializing in school will fix it.

So in other words, they wanted society to peer pressure her into masking all the time.

Well guess what. It didn't work.

No shit Sherlock, when y’all habitually overlook and refuse to diagnose girls, women and people of color. And then use the fact y’all don’t diagnose us as an excuse not to diagnose us. Therefore further traumatizing and alienating us.

So real. I’m a late diagnosed audhder as well and the trying to “fix” myself and assimilate with my peers has lead me to start developing an autoimmune disorder. 🙃
