I started Duo's Japanese track about four years ago. For a few reasons, Duolingo seemed to treat Japanese like an inconvenience. It is too far outside the template they want to force onto their lessons. It is a square peg to them.

I found this on Twitter ages ago. Turns out it's been updated! Adobe's competitors range in quality from fantastic to meh, but for those who have the option to escape the subscription hellscape, it's nice to have a starting point.
