💔 When we were both in college (he at U.Md, me at U.Va) a dear Blair HS classmate and I saved up to see the '76 revival of Fiddler on the Roof at the Kennedy Center. That night, Zero Mostel was unable to appear, but it was certainly an experience to remember. Trying to hold onto that happy memory.

My husband (he of the, "what's wrong with gift cards?" school of gift-giving) thinks I am nuts, but I ordered 5 of the Merriam Webster's brand new 12th edition Collegiate Dictionary, the one with the thumb notches and the red cover, for the nieces and nephews. Bought them from Bookshop.org.

Like whether the post-op radioactive ablation in the IN NETWORK hospital where I had the cancer surgery would be covered, because the head of the nuclear medicine dept, who handed me the pill and explained it, was not on the list of covered doctors 🤷

When we became eligible for Medicare, my husband said we're going to buy the best Medex/medigap insurance (on top of traditional medicare) so we don't have to spend hours on phone with pre approvals, appealing denials, etc. He listened to me for several years, arguing over common sense stuff,

And they eat off the same Corelle plates with the odd platters that we all have in our homes too. Regular folks 💔

As recently as 2004, my mother-in-law had to maintain a $2000 CD in the bank as security for a credit card in her own name after her husband died. She was 79, and had worked, but this was many years after her last job.

My first was developmentally disabled (global delay), and would later be diagnosed with epilepsy and then autism. He was late and disabled at everything, including latching on. Just could not do it. We could get him to take a bottle. But I thought it was me. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

I saw Lawrence of Arabia in panavision (I think -- or whatever the wide wide format was called) at the Charles cinema in Boston, late 70s. Wow. But sure, no big difference in how you view art. I can see a photo of Stonehenge on my phone, too, no need to go there 🙄

If only some people had paid more attention in math class. Annoys me almost as much as people confusing a calculation with calculus. Lawyers in particular (and I am one, but I met an awful lot of younger students who went to law school because they thought there would be no math 🙄).

I wish! My aunt and uncle's house in Ohio had a laundry chute. Fascinating to play ready set go with your sibling and cousins. Foomp! Clothes (and toys) land in the basket below. Alas, they are now considered a fire hazard, for the reason you identified (chimney).

Employees with disabilities are frequently conflicted about disclosing same. On one hand, you can't get an accommodation to which you may be legally entitled unless you self-identify. On other hand, you risk discrimination. But if you already have a job, in theory the risk is lower to self-report.
