“We are lonesome animals. We spend all of our life trying to be less lonesome. One of our ancient methods is to tell a story begging the listener to say—and to feel—‘yes, that is the way it is, or at least that’s the way I feel it. You’re not as alone as you thought.’” #storytelling

It should be this amount regardless of whether ex tenant has asked for it or not. If Gavin has any moral compass - he should now transfer that amount and say sorry - and then, like all of us, learn from it and know nothing goes away. Idea he knew the ex-tenant was now a working journalist baffles.
athenamediaie.bsky.social
So Gone Gavin now issuing statements making the repayment of funds he has owed for 16 years - conditional on some quibbles he has with tenant's story in podcast - and no 'sorry' ? He should actually pay interest on the sum for last 16 years - and move on #spéirghorm

pretty important for USA - let's be honest. Seems the 'defending democracy and NOT * note caps* giving in to the rightward slide' core is in your net. We're actually just sweeping out the waters flooding in from Stateside.

The focus on the unpaid monies - misses the point that if he had complied with law and registered the tenancy with RTB - the tenant would have had easy access to his rights under RTB - and RTB would have handled it. For me the failure to register is the core issue.

idea a future president thinks its ok to dismiss registering a rental property ( let alone the missing payment)- and thinks that's what most people did - suggests he's not fit to be a candidate. Lots of people followed law and registered rental property - He'd be better to stop defending #aras26

Israel shows how it has lost its morality, ethical compass and humanity, treating Thunberg & humanitarians as 'terrorists' - degrading her simply ensures the world sees what's happening - the shame of their genocide deflecting into hatred and barbarism of those seeking to provide aid.

The Times of Israel reports that Greta Thunberg & her fellow Flotilla crew are being held in a special "terrorist" section of Ketziot prison—or in "terrorist conditions," as Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's Minister of National Security put it.

www.timesofisrael.com/thunberg-sai...
On Friday, the ultranationalist minister suggested that Israel would be better off throwing the flotilla participants in prison for several months
rather than immediately deporting them back to their home countries. Security prisoners - those incarcerated for offenses that intentionally harm national security - are housed separately from criminal prisoners and are not eligible for many of the benefits available to the general prison population. The term is a catch-all term applied to detainees, convicted prisoners and terrorists, and administrative detainees who are held
without charges for extended periods, without trial. "We are in Ketziot prison, and as I promised, those flotilla members,
supporters of terrorism, are here in a security prison," Channel 14 reported
Ben Gir as saying. "They receive conditions for terrorists here, for everything, terrorist sweatpants, terrorist conditions. This means, there is a minimum of the
minimum, that's what I promised and that's how we are fulfilling it."

Misses the point that the single way to make #Dublin better is to change how it is run - implement the Citizens Assembly on Dublin - it's always about governance #spéirghorm. These are all piecemeal not transformative change.

Does the continued labelling of Gaza by media as an 'enclave' help the narrative that somehow it is not a real and legitimate place. For Palestinians - it is part of Palestine ? Enclave is not an accurate definition given it has a border with Egypt ...it is lazy short-hand.

Large housing developers in Ireland also have large land banks, the two publicly listed companies report 35,000+ development sites between them

At their reduced level of completions since interest rates started rising, the 8 companies here, could keep going until around 2040 without buying another plot.
Land-banking for profit reduces affordable housing, not migration.
Land banking: construction companies still hoarding land
The big boys of construction are sitting on enough land to build a couple of cities, and their stashes have increased by nearly 10 per cent in just a year.

Amazing to see a woman PM in #Japan - in the 90s when there on a study trip found Japan had zero tolerance of women in leadership - was told women were given advanced education in order to be good mothers to next generation - not to lead - so welcome progress www.rte.ie/news/asia/20...

pretty useless at present given there's so little engagement from some of the 3 candidates - some of our previous presidents were not fluent Irish speakers? McAleese had to learn and did so rapidly. Reducing climate to question of 'there's too many policies'?? - questions could be more nuanced
