Between this and Karen Attiah’s firing, WaPo continuing to affirm the family decision to keep the ending of our subscription with them permanent

I know some will argue the news desk is still worth it, but it’s tainted by the actions of leadership to shape the message of the paper in a certain way 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m getting a little side eye about the number of folks suggesting examples of activism outside the U.S.

Not that there isn’t something you can learn from those actions, but it suggests amnesia about a time in the U.S. when folks had to employ those same tactics for the democracy we have had

So, Ben Kingsley EARNED his Oscar playing Gandhi so it’s worth the watch.

But..if you need to get inspiration of nonviolent actions that demonstrated brutality of your opponent might I suggest American stories

Eyes on the Prize Documentary or the movie Selma (Ava DuVernay did her big one here)

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire
