Johannes "John" Schenk (1824-1901) was born in Obergimpern, Baden-Württemburg Germany. By the 1850's, he and his father Phillip had built farms next to each other on Waters Rd.

Wilhelm Friedrich Pfitzenmeyer (1819-1892) emigrated from a village near Stuttgart, Germany at the age of 17. He purchased this tract of land in Section 3 of Freedom Township in 1850.

He was appointed postmaster in 1873. Friedrich was a Lutheran and a Republican.

Peter Christian Luchtmann emigrated from Mecklenburg with his 4 children and wife.
