Yet another X refugee. Chaos.Lady of old. Nerdy geek and cranky old lady. Rambling, eclectic and socially challenged is my posting game. Topics will range from Aardvarks to Zyzzyva (yes, that's a thing) and probably everything in between.
Interesting article, especially for someone like me who struggles with social cues & situations. The idea of flipping things on their head in order to highlight an idea or concept can spark true creativity and is a much overlooked thing- not just in the workplace. theconversation.com/why-you-seri...

Interesting article written by someone who was in the middle of the moment in Australian history we decided tariffs were "a working man's tax". Keating was a politician many couldn't decide whether to call a madman or a genius. History shows it was the latter. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-08...
Amid Trump's tariffs, Chalmers must repeat what Keating did in the 80s
Treasurer Jim Chalmers must find a way to repeat what Paul Keating did in the 1980s and 90s, and lift productivity. Good luck with that.

Book haul! I finally found a bookshop in Aus that stocked some @scalzi.com and even had a copy of @wilwheaton.net's last, and was lucky enough to pick up some of my other Kindle favourites in paper form. I can't wait to read an actual physical book for the first time in a donkey's age!

Squeeeeeeee! This looks so amazing. If you haven't read the book, it's totally worth the time. One of the few books that made me laugh and cry all at once with an ending that was unexpected, yet completely perfect and obvious. Brilliant!
Project Hail Mary is one of my favorite books and this trailer for the movie makes me so fucking happy!

@scalzi.com - How do you react to public negative reviews or people that dislike your books just because you wrote them? Does it ever bite?

The struggle: The news today said that 50 countries were willing to "talk deals" around the new tariffs. Is this a good thing? Leaving aside the whole "negotiating with terrorists" angle, aren't we just playing directly into his hands? But then, if it means that this all goes away...

Trump made specific mention that "Australia does not import any US beef" & tried to tie this directly to protectionism, twisting the truth that it's actually biosecurity (diseases we don't have here) concerns which prevent it.
