I really like Amber as a narrator (I've got a bunch of her stuff in the Urban Fantasy genre), but I'm SERIOUSLY glad @wilwheaton.net narrated Lock-In. I loved him as the narrator of that and his face on a C3PO type bot in a trench-coat is a much beloved head-cannon of mine. :)

I signed up for Britbox. Why? I don't have Disney+ or Paramount+. It's not just a matter of where you don't put your money, but also where you do. Supporting something like Britbox and their content seems like a good thing to me. Plus, Brit comedy rocks (especially their 70's/80's comedy). :)

I just bought the Shadow and Bone series of books after watching the doomed Netflix series. I've also not bought books because I couldn't get into the series. Good or bad it can give an insight into if the premise is "for you" as long as you remember that what you are watching is only a premise.

And that this includes both male and female (and other) authors in every genre. There are exceptional male Romance authors and equally exceptional female SF authors (for example). I wonder if the more interesting question is whether it's bias against genre, or bias against the gender of the author.

I have read some of OMW but to tell the truth I found it a bit hard going after the first 3 or 4 books. I will go back to it again sometime as I was enjoying a lot of the premise.

As well as the ones here, i can highly recommend Lock In if you can find a copy (or grab it on e-book) and it's sequels. Agent to the Stars is also excellent.

Thanks Wil! It was actually your narration that led me to discover my enjoyment of Mr Scalzi's work. I only spent the credit on Lock In because you were reading it and the rest, as they say, is history. :) Although, at least buying Scalzi books is cheaper than buying board games ;)

OneTab browser extension. It's a game changer! Available for most browsers. *looks at one tab list* - 243 tabs last time I hit the button. :)

It gets much much darker (but no less delightful) the more of the series you read. :)

I've been working to popularise the name "Massive Monstrous Motion", but I don't think it's caught on yet. :P

How on earth has no one mentioned Lord of the Rings. I mean - seriously?
a man and a woman are looking at each other with the words " there is nothing to forgive " written on the bottom

I didn't realise Canadian spiders grew to the same size as Australian ones!

It seemed like a lot of the "rich" food was just poor food with extra stuff. Mac n Cheese with Lobster Tails? Foie Gras Burger? I admit to being quite middle/lower class in my food taste mostly, (which it got right) but I don't mind a "fancy" burger or meal either.
