I’ve lost mine before and it’s been super helpful to just be able to walk in and get a new one in a few minutes.

Mine can print you a new card at their location in 5 minutes, way more convenient than my old big banks system of don’t tell me you’re sending a new card, send it to the wrong address, deactivate my old card without telling me, then make me use checks for 3 weeks while you send the new one

Most rehab programs for adults are 28 days and are voluntary. They also include medication, which has proved to be effective in treating substance use & mental illness. These meds are no more dangerous than your blood pressure meds. RFK’s “farms” are based on junk science and stigma.

Actually I agree with the other commenter. All of RFK’s proposals appear to be a return to institutionalization, except now patients will be forced to work on a farm while receiving bogus “treatment.”

Treatment can happen away from home but again, it is SHORT term, RFK is proposing 3-4 years.

5) Social skills are a part of regular outpatient therapy, which you do while living at home, in both group and individual therapy settings;
6) job skill training is offered everywhere, including regular public schools. You don’t have to go to a “wellness farm” to learn a trade.

3) How are you supposed to “reconnect with community” if you’ve been removed from your community and sent to a ‘wellness farm?’
4) Reparenting as therapy should take place when the patient is an adult, not a child; and assumed all MH is due to poor parenting, which is completely untrue

1) effective residential Tx doesn’t take 3-4 years. Withdrawal is 3-4 DAYS and doesn’t require medical supervision, except benzos & alcohol, again just a few days.
2) MH treatment is best in your community, at home, in your usual environment. So you learn to cope with your usual environment.

Agreed, I’m in IN and there are plenty of people here doing good work and trying to overcome this. There are major systemic barriers, like districting, that prevent us from having a larger voice in the state gov. But we ARE here!!!

just because we’re not doing that now doesn’t mean we can never do it. I bet if we gave Greta Thunberg a bow and arrow she could get the job done for us

Honestly dystopia is kind of comforting for me in a hellscape… it’s nice to read stories of people rising up and forcing change instead of it always feeling hopeless and bleak.
