I see journalists as protectors of democracy. They do more than just sharing and posting; they stick to standards that many others might not follow. Also, their role is to tell stories that help the community make sense of the place they live. #UWJ201 #301

I think an answer is pushing journalists to accept peace journalism efforts that prioritize the voices of lower groups. Media education can also help the public see bias in reporting and ask for balanced coverage. #UWJ201 #301

It's interesting to consider how far conformity can go. Most people might draw the line when they feel their core values or identity are threatened, but the exact point varies depending on the situation and individual. #UWJ201 #301

platforms like X contribute to low cohesion by increasing echo chambers, where we are exposed to information that reinforces their existing beliefs. This creates a feedback loop, increasing polarization and making it harder people to engage with differing viewpoints, furthering division #UWJ201 #301

I think having more information leads to better judgments. While it is still hard to judge perceptions of media, this helps people consider how the media impacts them #UWJ201 #301

I think the impact is big as well. It shapes what we all believe. Through our entire lives until we’re shown other news sources eventually #uwj201 #301

I totally agree, with everything going on with the Russia Ukraine negotiation, the tariffs on Canada and the plethora of other tense things going on in the national news section of our country. It is interesting to see how the news has been portraying it and seeing their reactions.

I think a right leaning news source might choose a frame that supports their side more. I think a lot of it will be out of context dialogues taken of trump quoting him saying “I do not support project 2025” so on and so forth. I think it is great that they are voicing their opinions though!

A state-run social media platform could reduce influence of profit-driven algorithms and help regulate content, but it raises concerns about government control, censorship, and privacy. While it might offer some benefits it could limit expression and create risks if not managed.

On social media, algorithms track behavior and show ads that exploit these fears. By tapping into heightened anxiety, these targeted ads increase engagement and drive consumer behavior, reinforcing the cycle of fear and encouraging people to buy products that alleviate their concerns.

I think those AI bots and helpers are scary. Like in the movie with Will Smith in a way . It's off-putting. I think they should seek to keep it robotic and far away from human like so it feels more like a helper rather than a robotic real life companion that you can relate too. #UWJ201 #301

I have similar opinions to the both of you when it comes to ads & marketing. I am often persuaded by the ads in between scrolls on the platforms that market a product. Reading on the tactics reminds me of methods used by companies and in turn I feel it makes me more aware for sure. #UWJ201 #301

A broad variety of opinions needs to be added in political conversations but is difficult considering our country is bipartisan. Although, I believe it comes down to voters as well. Individuality is a key. #UWJ201 #301

I think patrol is the most effective. It has more context, which helps with complex issues. Alarm coverage, while grabbing attention, misses important stories. Balance is needed for news. #UWJ201 #301

I see where you are coming from completely. I think as long as a seasoned professional in the field is conducting it then it is safe. I can't imagine it not being beneficial for outlets around the world to show what they truly stand for. Without them a sense of division could arise.

Hey! I think putting a focus on policy has a direct impact on polls. I think poll statistics could be useful in coverage prior to elections. Do you believe coverage would change the direction? or is the motive for money high on the totem pole and in turn engrained creating an obstacle for change?
