Apropos of everything, decades ago and not too long after the ink on the Good Friday Agreement was dry, I did a brief peace and conflict studies stint in N Ireland. www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna44411... One of the places I was allowed to visit was the Felons Club. Just...throwing that out there.

I said the same thing when this happened in 2024 though I had more exotic culprits in mind.

I haven never felt closer to her because people really do think something is TERRIBLY wrong.

Addendum: accountability is important and I occassionally like to provide literal receipts that I'm doing exactly what I say I am with your support.

My rideshare expenses for the last 48 hours alone are a car note but I do not have car money.

Catlett, as you can see, was antiwar to the point of exile, and a part of Taller de Gráfica Popular in Mexico City where she lived for decades www.politicalgraphics.org/post/black-h...

This bronze sculpture Pensive, was easily my favorite piece even in a collection of beautiful and moving things.

I loved how Catlett's work captures the labor of BW with such tenderness. There's an honesty to it that keeps it from romanticizing our suffering but still is still reverent.

This is the Phillis Wheatley piece mentioned in the above list. It reminded me that I have a speculative Phillis Wheatley shaped thing in my WIP pile.

I'm new to Catlett's work so I thought at first that this was an example of her poetry. I guess Margaret Walker rubbed off on her in a way because this "poem" is composed of the titles she gave a series of small linocuts.

It hits that much harder for that reason.

In absolute shambles yesterday, so I'm resuming photo dump and thread today.

I had to see this show because I owe my entire existence to a bad turnip harvest. My last ancestor who sharecropped in Mississippi when they were young, died in 2024.

Having a pain based meltdown in public means I get to break out your better class of muscle relaxants.

Me and this off brand massage gun (gifted to me and super durable for being from The Bar is No Longer Under Five Dollars) and my heating pad are about to go together real bad.

Photo dump anyone?

Today's not a great day for pain but I've gotten as comfortable as I can so my cane and I are headed to a museum for the culture (with an assist from my @fossilforager.bsky.social and @syfysistas.bsky.social and Action Saru pins).

Your plan was to scare a BEAR with a dog? Then you framed the wrong bear? You just need to move sir 🤣

"Several weeks ago, the department set up a trap: a large metal cage sprayed with cherry and caramel scents. A bear was found inside it on Dec. 16, but officials said it was the wrong bear."

You're not getting a before cause I hadn't seen a barber since summer and it was giving STRUGGLE.

Imperfect? Absolutely. But not bad for baby's very first homemade fade.

Between the guards, YouTube Beauty School, and skyline moral support I think I can continue and improve.

I made (and ate) an omelet that deserved a modeling contract, and A Santa who decided I was good enough delivered this delightful pin by @fossilforager.bsky.social (OBSESSED)

@allyfromnola.bsky.social is here you could've tagged her.

But the replies prove that "we sent the south the wrong message" has little to do w/consequences for treason and everything to do w tolerance of extremist behavior as long as it's limited to anti-Black oppression.

I've been looking for these footprints since I took them almost 6 months ago. Baby on the left? Normal baby.

Baby on the right? Born with a roll of neck fat so substantial that I was inspired to whisper *SPECIMEN* in its ear.

And because I'm sure someone, somewhere thinks this is an exaggeration, here's a closeup (sans identifiers) of my permanent residency card. I had a fast tracked citizenship application because of my healthcare credentials. I am legally allowed to come and go there as I please.
