I have others on that list I want to read, but they're either not in stock right now, or are ex-pen-sive at the moment, so they can wait til I have the cash.

Thanks again for your recs, folks!

Excellent idea!

Plus, eeeeh! Imagine watching season one, getting a feel for the characters (we all already have the tone down, after all), and getting to submit stories for season two.

Yes, I'm being silly, but also... maybe one of us could do it?

Lori! What am I supposed to do with all this energy?!

We have years to wait!

Even the episode's title was a downgrade.
'Emancipation'...? Yikes.

And both were written by the same writer, too. 💀

Well, I will admit I'm not a huge fan of multiple POV's, especially if it shifts every chapter.

I hated it in GoT, and I think that broke me.

But the blurb does sound interesting, so I'm gonna add it to my list. Thanks!

I do feel not have read any Ursula Le Guin yet is a dark mark against my character. It's something I'd like to fix.

Is there a particular book of hers you'd suggest I start with? There are just so many, it's daunting!
November 17, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Is there anyone on that list your most suggest I try?
November 17, 2025 at 5:38 PM
OMG, so many!!

And yes, I will absolutely read more Scalzi. It's lovely how his online personality come sout in his writing.

But 'The Ghost Brigades' is out of stock in my local book shop right now, so I'm looking elsewhere til they restock because obviously, fuck Amazon.

This is a good list, thank you.

I've read The Martian and Hail Mary Project by Andy Weir, and loved them both, BUT I'm gun shy about his stuff after attempting Artemis and being very disappointed.

Neal Stephenson is new to me, though. Is there a book you'd recommend starting with?

So therapy should work just fine for doomer, then.

Northern Ireland's 1921 'temporary' partition comes to mind.

You could do early season Daniel as one of them, and later season Daniel as the other one.

Also, there are a lot of other characters who could work for your magician. Urgo comes to mind, Orlin, Merlin. Oh! Morgan Le Fay, maybe? Oma Desala? 🤷🏼‍♀️

The reason I dismissed number 4 was that there wasn't a lot to judge it on. No stitching, no detail, etc.

The number of Irish flags flapping on lamp posts in town centres is a sure sign that we're tipping closer to serious xenophobic bullshit.

Pride, politics or protest? How flags have fuelled concern
To some, the tricolour movement is a show of national pride. To others, it intended to intimidate. What's behind the campaign, and how is it being seen by local authorities and political leaders?

The Irish government needs to stop hoarding the wealth (20+% of TDs are landlords, almost all of them are governing right now), and remember this country's socialist roots before it is too late.
