I don't expect the Russians to stop hitting civil infrastructure in Kyiv and other cities. I also have no illusions that American negotiators will pay attention to these attacks on civilians. But I know for sure that spring will come in 5 weeks. I hope these plants will survive.

Why has Trump's year of negotiations with Putin become the deadliest year for civilians in Ukraine since 2022?

Because the human dimension in this war doesn't matter to the US negotiators. So, Putin decided he could do whatever he wanted.

People are freezing not just in Kyiv. This photo is from Lviv. The temperature in the room when there is no electricity. 12°C (degree Celsius) is 53.6°F (degree Fahrenheit).

Next week it will be minus - 22 C (degree Celsius), -7.6 F (degree Fahrenheit), so there will be large-scale shelling again on the weekend.

The Russians hit a residential building with a drone last night in the Kyiv region. A 4-year-old girl was rescued by a neighbor. Her parents were crushed and burned alive.

In the Kharkiv region, Russian Shahed drones targeted a passenger train. The car caught fire, there were killed and injured people, and all the passengers were evacuated.

Russians killed an elderly couple who were trying to evacuate on their own from an occupied village in the Sumy region. The man was pulling his wife on a sled through the snow. First, one drone targeted the woman. The second drone attacked the already wounded man, who remained next to her body.

And the fact that Washington prefers not to notice the mass shelling of Ukraine during the peace talks is on its conscience.

In the photo, children from houses without heating after Russian shelling are warming themselves at special points.

And for now, we have this situation: Moscow is imitating negotiations to gain time, reduce international support for Ukraine, and make it easier for itself to occupy the entire country.

And perhaps for the first time in all these days, I felt such sincere human support from this rather self-focused audience at the Davos forum.

I spoke about Ukrainian women I know who serve in the military, make political decisions, fight for justice, and coordinate powerful initiatives. Because bravery has no gender.

The award ceremony itself is a unique opportunity to raise the issue of Ukraine once again. I am grateful to the organizers for inviting Forbes to conduct an interview with me on stage.

I am not romanticising at all; this is still a difficult test. The Russians have decided to freeze us to death in order to break us, but this is our only life and we have refused to be broken. If our defenders in frozen trenches can hold back the Russian advance, then so can we. 1/12

4. Neighbours hold winter picnics in the courtyard, businesses provide generators for hospitals, people light up the entrances with fairy lights, some set up mobile saunas to warm up those who are frozen, others set up colourful playhouses from ice for children. 1/11

Volunteer groups in different cities respond to calls, pick up frostbitten animals, treat them, and find them homes. People try to save themselves, and at the same time, save other lives that cannot cope with this challenge on their own. And there is a lot of humanity in this. 1/10
