Theres something so nice too about the communal signing in church that I miss. No real pressure to be perfect, the act of joining in is the important part. Seeing people regularly like that too.

I cant stand religion anymore but I rather miss the community element built into it.

After having a job that rewarded ppl for their heavy AI use I can tell you first hand that shit is making people so creatively insecure. The brain is a muscle. Your imagination needs to be stretched and exercised with reading, writing samples, brainstorming. Every bad draft makes you better

What sucks too is how fleeting that financial situation can be when working in tech. Like i have been in tech in some way for a decade now and my job security/pay/insurance has been so bad that i still cant afford these surgeries after 8 years of transitioning.

There’s something so satisfying about talking to students about lighting in Unreal Engine and I am really grateful my alma mater keeps on inviting me back!

It’s also fascinating how rapidly UE evolves, eliminating a lot of the technical hurdles in lighting with Lumen and VSM.

I’ve often thought that the “family split between empire and rebellion” thing was a bit of an overly convenient storytelling device to turn up the drama. People in an impossibly hard situation against the ones they love. But families really split that way. It’s heartbreaking to realize that.

5 years of dodging COVID and it finally caught me this week. I’m pretty sure i picked it up at a game dev meetup. Either way, its interesting. First day was super mild, second felt like death, third and on Im very tired but the rest of the symptoms are slacking off. Hopefully this will be over soon.
