Of course, the best example of this I can think of, is this new-ish beat 'em up where the main character is some anime girl with a dragon tail that is nearly center of her back... and I can't fucking remember the name of the game. And googling "dragon girl beat em up" is giving me nothing.

It would still be too high up the back. Even if it was some thick, dragon tail, and everything was covered, I'd know where the spine would be.
