How about a pet that looks a little like a fox?

On Remembrance Day I think of those who are sent to fight, and those who fought and died in hopes that we who follow them might not have to.

On this Remembrance Day I am once again saddened that the peace that was promised after the price that they paid seems to be falling apart.

Lest we forget.

I overcooked the chicken for Hazel. She doesn't care, but she knows.

This Violife one is the best we've found so far. I haven't got it to melt nicely under a broiler, but it melts well in a pan. I'd cook the chicken parm then drop it on pan melted Violife and flip.

I haven't tried going to broiler after, but worth a try if you are looking to brown the cheese.

Scrolling on my phone and for some reason the algorithm suggested the exact same reel two times in a row.

I would never have imagined this, but there's now a very non-zero chance that Discovery could be lost at sea in the near future.

I have no idea what kind of mahjong they were playing at the Hollywood Tower Hotel in 1939 but that's not a proper hand by my house rules.

The degree to which American media completely misunderstands or misrepresents Canada astounds me.

I just used up my last dashi from Tsukiji Market. I guess I have to go back to Tokyo now.

Look at this stuff. Isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?

Ok, not complete but only room for two more without boxes.

I finally tried a Dubai Chocolate pastry and it really is quite good. This is a Dubai Chocolate mochi doughnut from Paris Baguette in Vancouver.

I'm new to urban cycling and happy that TransLink has this practice rig at Lonsdale Quay. I was a little nervous that I would fumble putting my new bike on the bus bike rack. It's super easy!

I wonder if Paul Reiser will stick around for the screening of Aliens after his set at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver? It would be so cool to say I watched Aliens with Carter Burke.

I don't think angry is the right word to describe how I feel. More like... Offended. Insulted. Disrespected. Unappreciated. Scapegoated. Threatened.

I will save angry for if they dare make one uninvited step into our country. We grew up under hockey code and know when it's go time.

I'm trying to reduce growing food in plastic containers. I had a few old bamboo streamers that needed replacing, so I hacked them into a new bamboo planter to expand my victory herb garden.

I'm opening my garden early this year to increase my use of ultra local produce. #ElbowsUp

Learning to grow tomatoes was my pandemic project, and now I'm going to try to learn greens. I'm open to any tips for Zone 8 at higher altitude please!

I risked arbitrary detention to get one final chance to see #AltonBrown on his #LastBite tour in Bellingham today.

I leaned how to cook from my Mom and in my brief time as a short order cook in high school, but AB taught me how cooking actually works.

I'm finished sorting my nickels.

Anything 1982 or older is worth 10¢.

Any 2001 nickel that has no 'p' mint mark is worth 10¢.

The year with the most potential value is 1996 and I didn't have a single one. People must have been hoarding those ones for a long time.

Look through your Canadian 2006 pennies! If you have a magnetic one with no mint mark or a non-magnetic with a 'p' mark it could be worth 10's to 100's of $.

I have neither. The left ones are non-magnetic but don't have a 'p'. The right ones are magnetic with mint marks including one with a 'p'.

Nothing older than the 60's for my dimes, quarters, and american quarters. A decent number of moon landing coins.

The 1967 and 1968 dimes are 50% silver and worth a buck or two each! TREASURE!!!
March 25, 2025 at 6:20 AM
I've finally gone through all my Canadian pennies and the oldest I've found are 1941, 1950, 1953, 1954, and 1959.

I also found a 1939 American penny and I haven't even sorted through my giant bin of foreign coins yet!
