Also, I admit my example probably wasn’t the best. I tried and I was tired, so I probably didn’t succeed.

I see your point but I’d still say, in usage, the emphasis is different. Not at all the same with PIN.

But in terms of usage, that’s not really how it works.
“Could you open the window?”
“I’m trying.”
“Well, could you try and open it?!?”

Except that ‘succeed’ can be replaced by the specific thing you are trying to achieve. E.g., I can try and open the window, I can try and pass the exam.

And I don't know if the answer is: everyone is too traumatized to do work and we need to reinvent society. Or if it's more like: generations are losing their cognitive abilities and willpower due to destructive technologies. Or: we all have post-viral brain damage. Or: all of the above.

Zizek's review of this is so magnanimous:

"...Hook, Neill and Vanheule provide what we were all waiting for: a detailed commentary which does not aim to replace reading Écrits, but to render it possible. ..."

What a guy! Really makes me want to scrape some shekels together for it too

I didn’t get the joke, that’s all. Nothing too serious.

I know. That’s what I didn’t understand. Surely the value of any asset is what people value it at. Where does fair come into it?
