Optimism and pessimism. The IEA renewables 2025 update is fascinating. It ratchets down both US and China's renewable buildout from the 2024 report. US down more than 40% (!) and China down about 5%.
Forecast revisions from IEA Renewables 2025 report.

"In the first half of 2025 China’s new additions were more than twice the new capacity installed by the entire rest of the world this year. The #2 on the list, India, installed 24GW. The US at #3 installed 21GW. There is an order of magnitude difference."

One benefit I can see is intentionality to actual examine the trade-climate nexus and such a space being designed to specifically do that - because the rigidities of existing spaces are creating loopholes for unwilling actors to block discussions (EU saying UNFCCC isn’t ‘equipped’ to discuss trade)

Would be great to hear about your WTO experience. And yes details are scant on this forum, I’m skeptical especially if it’s driven by Brazil and EU solely, and doesn’t involve groups like South Africa and India who have a lot to say on trade and development

Congratulations! It’s a great report and dataset!
