ive been on a hunt to figure out what games support 480hz (or above). here's what i've found so far

any game that has a fully unlocked frame rate works

any other games that come to mind?

This open-air quest 3 facial interface is truly the convertible, drop-top, “feel and smell the air around you” accessory of VR

end-to-end latency test for moonlight streaming from my PC (shown on the monitor) to me Steam Deck

Total latency at 60fps is around a frame (16ms). Even less so for 90fps.

Feels fantastic for playing with a controller

The camera’s here and I’m lovin it!

Fantastic camera baseline, optical zoom, surprisingly decent quality in low light, a 3D display for preview, auto-alignment during capture, and a satisfying flip up/down mechanism for turning it on—15 year old tech!

Will work on converting to spatial photos!

heres a better comparison

mcmc (screenshots 1 and 3) vs adc (2 and 4)

surroundings are way more defined with ADC at the expense of detail on the subject scan itself
February 16, 2025 at 7:40 PM
Eh, ADC produced just as bad results with less detail on the actual building (sceenshot 1)

however, i think it's better at reconstructing the surrounding (screenshot 2)

Bach droppin a new banger soon y’all get ready
February 14, 2025 at 6:30 PM
btw, the skybox didnt help much here either, even when I had a decent amount of ground photos looking up at the sky.

I'll have to try again when i scan a scene with more of the surround and sky captured intentionally

New 3D scan from my Ruins of Ani series

Found a neat use case of my Vision Pro:

previewing 3D prints before printing them.

Visualizing the scale of prints is always hard—not anymore! The workflow is super easy. Export model as USDZ from blender and open it in Vision Pro.

then, you do a "mesh reconstruction" generates depth maps per image and then fuses them all together into a high poly mesh.

The result is a 100mil polygon model (even with 2x image downscale)
January 31, 2025 at 1:12 AM
btw - this is what a photogrammetry project looks like

you have a whole bunch of photos (in this case 1180 images from a DSLR and a drone) where you compare high contrast features against one another to find shared tie points, which make up the point cloud that you see

next, for meshing

and you bet I did it with my 3d printable scale marker wizardofaz.medium.com/how-to-use-m...
January 30, 2025 at 11:30 PM
btw I make all my 3D scans 1:1 scale to explore in VR btw

viewable as gaussian splats... coming soon!

more to come over the next few days!

(also working on their gaussian splat conversions which are awwwwesome to view in VR)

A few year ago, my wife and I went to Turkey to 3D scan the ruins of Ani, the medieval capital of Armenia

I’m finally starting to publish my work—downloadable via sketchfab for free!

Moonlight streaming pc -> steam deck latency test

It’s… pretty dang fast! A part of it is due to the HEVC decoding speed on Steam deck being super fast (<1ms)
January 28, 2025 at 12:33 AM
Ok I’m back to streaming games to my Vision Pro

Forgot of fing awesome it is to play on a massive screen compared to my Steam deck. I’m even using my 5.1 surround sound speakers for that non-simulated spatial audio

My Meta Ray Bans have become something I use daily, even without prescription lenses
- sunglasses + podcast speakers while I bike to work
- mic + speakers for phone and some zoom calls
- dashcam for the streets

They feel like v0.1 of AR glasses, focusing use cases that already exist (audio/video)
