Two things can be true:
1) this administration is causing & will cause incalculable damage & death to vulnerable people, and eventually to everyone except maybe the oligarchs. It is a horror show beyond many of our wildest previous imaginings
2) they are bungling fools and they have already failed

This is honestly why I don’t buy at least half of the “Their PLAN is to do X to achieve Long-Term Goal Y!” stuff. It’s like thinking the rabid wolverine mauled you so that you’d go bankrupt from medical bills. No, sometimes it really just wanted to maul you, it wasn’t playing 4D chess.

Rewatching “Buffy” S6 and I’m reminded how much I didn’t like the way it leaned into SA threats and implications at pretty much every turn.

Let's all be honest, "Aquire a loan you know you can't pay off, then use it to buy a company, spin off the assets to private concerns, saddle the company with the loan you can never pay off, and then declare bankruptcy" is financial fraud, and any sane polity would have implemented laws against it.

This is reminding me of how the right uses "criminal" - not defined by deed (committing crime) but membership in a class ("those bad people"). Similarly, their use of "Christian" isn't defined by what you do; it designates the exalted people, as opposed to the lesser people.

This is going to sound more flip than I mean it, but when I was a kid I watched the Blues Brothers running Illinois Nazis off a bridge and the Nazis on Hogan's Heroes being pathetic dimwits every damn day, and I do feel like we need to get back to constant, vicious cultural ridicule of open racists.
