316) Empire of Death (Novelization of TV [Modern] S14E7/8)

I'm an Empire of Death defender, but this story did not translate well to prose. This story relies on visual spectacle, but without that, it really falls flat. There are some neat extra scenes, however, like the one on Vortis.

I'm only two chapters in, but I'm really enjoying Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved. It feels like a perfect mix of Hotel Dusk and Famicom Detective Club. The soundtrack is amazing. The mystery is intriguing. I'm invested in the main character's story arc, which is rare for this genre.

I got this in a 5 minute game today.

Very proud of this.

Just finished the NES game Adventures of Lolo, and it was pretty fun! Fun little simple, cozy puzzle game. I played this a bit as a kid when I got into emulation, but it felt great to finally finish it as an adult.

I recently finished Peacemaker, and I LOVED it. Exactly my type of television. The characters are all amazing and have insanely good chemistry. The story is wonderful. The pacing is incredible. The comedy is hilarious. I do not have enough good things to say about it.

Me: "Hey Jacko, you should play Sonic 1 GBA."
@jackosr.bsky.social : "Why would I torture myself by doing that?"
Me: "Because I told you to."

And two days later...

I have immense power over my friends.

Is this a new adaptation of the story you wrote for the Short Trips book series? Or just an audiobook version of the existing story?

56) The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002 nominee)

Like the Flintstones movie: Amazing production, horrendous comedy script makes for such an amazing bad-movie experience. Absolute nonsense script that continually one-ups its own stupidity. Great time.

A+.

315) The Necropolis Express (Jago & Litefoot 2.2)

I could not get into this story. There's not much bad about it, but there's not much interesting either. Also, the title and cover promise a story in a train, but the train is stupidly irrelevant to the story, which actually bothers me.

314) Time You Never Had (8DA: Causeway 2)

This might be Tim Foley's best work yet. Insanely gripping story. Every single aspect of this story works phenomenally. I cried at a few points from the emotional stakes. Just phenomenal. A Big Finish all-timer.

313) Lost Amongst the Stars (8DA: Causeway 1)

Yet another Doctor Who horror banger. The atmosphere in this story is absolutely INCREDIBLE. All three of our leads are on their absolute best, especially Jaye Griffiths. Rochana Patel continues to be a remarkable writer.

I just finished reading the manga for She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat, and I'm not going to go more into it, as I already did in this thread below, but I love it so much, and for very different reasons than I love the live-action adaptation. I'm really gonna miss this series. 😭

312) Litefoot and Saunders (Jago and Litefoot 2.1)

This story was great! I thought the tension between Jago and Litefoot would get old, but it's used very well throughout this story. A lot of this story is predictable, but it plays out so well that I can't complain.

311) The Similarity Engine (Jago and Litefoot 1.4)

I don't have a lot to say about this story, but it is a very good finale to this first storyline. The bit where Jago tells Dr. Tulp to just shake their hands was very brilliantly done. This climaxes this series are consistently great.

307) The Spirit Trap (Jago & Litefoot 1.3)

Wow, this one was INCREDIBLE. The atmosphere is so rich, and the tension is so sharp. I was absolutely thrilled from start to end. Jonathan Morris is on his best this story, and the cast's performances are electric.

306) The Bellova Devil (Jago & Litefoot 1.2)

There are some really cool ideas here, but it rarely succeeded at capturing my attention. The climax twist was pretty interesting, but overall it was just kinda boring, but not bad.

305) Lionesses in Winter (Thirteenth Doctor Adventures 1.3)

The comedy writing for this story is excellent. The jokes CONSTANTLY had me laughing. I'm realizing that this might be a real strength of Lisa McMullin, since she also wrote Till Death Us Do Part. The narrative is good too!

304) The Bloodless Soldier (Jago & Litefoot 1.1)

A fun start to this range! The first part of this story was just kind of okay, but the climax was TENSE. Absolutely had me at the edge of my seat.

303) The Mahogany Murders (Companion Chronicles 3.11)

A great pilot for the Jago & Litefoot range. The two characters have incredible chemistry, as their personalities really work well together. I LOVE the little banter they provide over the narration. Excited for more!

302) The Talents of Greel (Diary of River Song 6.4)

Once again, I just love the Victorian London aesthetic. Jago and River have great chemistry here. There is a cute monkey in this story. The musical number with River was INCREDIBLE.

301) The Talons of Weng-Chiang (TV Season 14 Serial 6)

There's a lot I love about this serial!I love the Victorian London aesthetic, Jago and Litefoot are great characters, and the narrative is thrilling.

However... there's also all of the causal racism. It's a lot.

300) The Final Hour (The Robots 6.3)

My time with Kaldor is over!

This was such a fun series, and this was a great finale to end it on. I have some thoughts about the overall narrative of this range, but the individual stories have all been excellent, this one included.
