I felt similarly in an episode of Gozyuger. There's a lot of usual hallmarks, like civilian fight scenes, that immediately give him away, but there was just this one shot of the entire team stood opposite a monster that just immediately screamed Sakamoto before any of the other, more obvious tells.

316) Empire of Death (Novelization of TV [Modern] S14E7/8)

I'm an Empire of Death defender, but this story did not translate well to prose. This story relies on visual spectacle, but without that, it really falls flat. There are some neat extra scenes, however, like the one on Vortis.

A few years ago, I was like "Well, maybe I don't like his show, and maybe he's a bit of a sellout, but he has his place in the industry and I can't begrudge his success."

Now I absolutely begrudge his success.

Despite that... I have a feeling that my 30s are going to be even better. Those who know me personally know that I've made some personal life changes recently that is setting me up for the next decade to be even better. I'm very excited for what's next to come in Kirby's life. :D

You lack whimsy in your heart

Last year I broke my arm, and almost a year later, the surgeon suddenly charged me more money than I originally paid. My health insurance not only squared that away, but got me refunded all of the money I paid the surgeon originally! (~$2000)

I don't know how, but I'm happy to get that money back!

I got this in a 5 minute game today.

I mean, I just played an NES game. Can't say I care about much further back than that.

Playing Lolo, I couldn't help but compare it to Block Koala from UFO 50. BK very much feels like it's trying to capture this vibe, but unlike a lot of other games in UFO 50, it feels less than what inspired it. It doesn't capture that same charm at all. I still enjoyed BK, but it was fun to compare.
